Summer Break is Here

The girls' last day of school was yesterday which means they are officially on summer break. Zella graduated kindergarten and is going into first grade and Xiera is going to be starting fourth grade in the fall. Both of them made straight A's on their report cards too! I am such a proud momma.

Caught in Action

Over Memorial weekend Xiera got a hold of my camera and decided to photograph me while I was crocheting.

I must have been either deep in thought in this next picture, or determined. I am not quite sure.

What was it that I was working on, you ask? My cousin had asked me to crochet a Pooh bear baby blanket for her friend who is expecting a baby boy. I finally have it all finished too.

I don't know if you can tell but I made Pooh bear smiling.

I think he looks very sweet when he smiles, don't you think?

Cute Custom Creations

I just have to say that I have the best customers EVER! They all have such wonderful custom ideas. My dear friend Bekah had asked me to crochet a pair of custom crochet Bubble Guppy Flip Flops for her daughter to wear for her upcoming Bubble Guppies themed birthday party. She requested the character Oona from the show on the flip flops. This is what I came up with!

I had found the green fun fringe yarn in my yarn stash at the last minute and thought it would be the perfect touch to add as I think it resembles seaweed.
This is a picture of Oona with all of her Bubble Guppy friends from the show.

Another adorable custom I had made late last week was this adorable newborn sock monkey hat and diaper cover set with suspenders.

I used a darker grey on this custom set with accents of blue jean blue and white.

Friday Flip Flops

I have had a BUSY week this week. The girls both had field trips this week with their classes that hubby and I switched off to volunteer for. I have also been working on custom flip flop orders this week.
These cute ice cream social flip flops were made for my dear cousin-in-law in Florida. She has 2 sweet little girls that are going to love these.

The striped infant flip flops were custom made for an old high school friend of mine who recently had a beautiful baby girl.

The Shades of Purple flip flops and Lavender Rose flip flops were custom made for a dear customer of mine. They are for her teenage daughters.

This week we also gained a new member to our family. Meet Cupcake...

She is 8 weeks old and spends most of her day on the girls' bottom bunk bed having sweet kitten dreams. Sadly she has conjunctivitis (pink eye) and had to visit the vet yesterday because of it. She is now on medicine and is starting to slowly feel much better. Isn't she precious?

Weekend Fun At The Movies

This weekend we are taking the girls to see Iron Man 3.

I had found a FREE pattern online for the Iron Man Power Gloves so I HAD to make a pair for both of the girls. The pattern was written for adult size only so I had to scale it down a bit by taking out a few rows in the cuffs and using a G hook instead of the I hook it calls for.

I think they are ready to power up now!

Teacher Appreciation Week

This week is Teacher Appreciation week. Both my daughters have been blessed to have the most sweetest and caring teachers this year. Although it is bittersweet that the girls will be moving forth to their following grade level next school year; we are all truly saddened by the fact that they will no longer be in these amazing teachers' classes by the end of the month. I have heard and seen nothing but wonderful and great things about this kindergarten teacher and this third grade teacher. So of course it was with great pleasure that I worked all late morning and afternoon on a pair of crochet cozies that I put around some vintage soup cans. Once the girls got off the bus, I took Xiera to get her expander taken off. (I know! Can you believe it has been a whole year already? Her cross bite has been corrected and we cannot be more pleased and thrilled about it!) Then afterwards, we went to Target's little dollar corner and found the perfect teacher supplies to add to the crochet cans; pens, pencils, notepads, and paper clips. We then went to Bath and Body Works to pick out a few hand sanitizers and Voila!

The perfect teacher gifts!! I hope they enjoy and appreciate these gifts as much as we have enjoyed and appreciated them this school year. They are true blessings that have touched my daughters' lives and will remain in our thoughts and hearts for a lifetime.

Junk to Treasure

Yesterday the girls and I went to a community garage sale in the next town over. We found a lot of of little treasures. Zella got another little Boyd bear to add to her collection and Xiera found some 80's toy Cabbage Patch Kid plastic doll toys. I found a set of pretty Irish laced doilies and a few Ball mason jars. I crocheted a rainbow cozy for the smaller mason jar and turned it into my new crochet hook holder.

It helps me stay organized.:)

Flipping For Whimsy Owl Flops

I have been in the mood to crochet owls lately. So I had this great idea....Why don't I put these crochet owls onto flip flops?

Best Idea EVER!! These particular flip flops were custom made for a dear customer so unfortunately they are already sold, but I am going to recreate them so that I can list them in my Etsy.
I also made these Hoot! Hoot! owls in a size 1/2 in little girls.

I will have these available in my store by early next week.
***A little update...As soon as Zella saw the Kawaii Panda Bear flip flops, she put them on and claimed them as her own. I guess I will have to remake them to add to my store too. ;)***

A Beautiful Day to Crochet...

I have been busy today enjoying the great outdoors while crocheting some new super cute things. Today I finished these Kawaii Panda Bear Flip Flops.

They are a size 12/13 in little girls. I am debating whether or not to add these to my Etsy store or not because Zella LOVES panda bears and these are her size. I guess I will have to wait until she gets home from school to see what she thinks. ;)
Another new item I finished today is this adorable Geeky Chic Scarflette with bow. I made this for Brittney of Ella Rose Portrait Arts to use in an upcoming photo shoot. She is already preparing for Back-To-School photo shoots.

I added a touch of silver in with the gray on the bow for an added glitzy diva touch.

I absolutely love kicking back in my Penelope Purple Flip Flops and crocheting the day away outdoors.

In other news; I took Zella and Xiera this week to get their haircuts. Xiera just got her normal trim but Zella felt a bit daring and wanted a shorter hairstyle.

She loved it at first, but by the next morning she was in tears telling me she looked like a boy. So we sat down at the computer and googled famous girls and women with short hairstyles. First we looked at the very famous Disney princess, Snow White, and then Emma Watson's adorable pixie haircut (The actress from Harry Potter who played Hermione Granger.) She started feeling much better and is beginning to embrace her cute new hairstyle. We put it up in a cute little ponytail today with a big purple bow. It is still long enough to be pulled back so that made her morning.
