Fall is Upon Us

It is that time of year. The tree leaves are changing to those beautiful red and golden hues. Pumpkins are placed on porches, and the cool crisp air greets us at the door every morning and evening.

We have enjoyed our weekends this season by going to the many fall festivals.

We have rode countless hay rides...

decorated pumpkins...

found our way through corn mazes...

rode zip cord rides through the cool air...

and walked in the park while smelling the autumn air and crunching the fallen leaves under our feet.

Enjoying Our Fall Days

I apologize for missing in action but we have been busy enjoying our beautiful fall season by taking fall walks...

Going on hay rides...

Riding other rides...

Playing fall games...

Painting Pumpkins...

Going through corn mazes...

And dressing up for Halloween parties!

Happy Fall to you and yours!

A Busy Crocheting Week

Cool fall weather is fast approaching and the custom orders are beginning to pour in. I have been working on something new every day. I finished two cute cloche hats this week for a dear customer of mine. I haven't made them in awhile so it was refreshing to make these. The first one is the Euro Garden Cloche.

The next one is the Whimsy Fun Cloche.

Both of these cloche hats are available in my Etsy store.
I also worked on two adorable purses. It had been almost two years since I had made a fairy mushroom house purse so it was exciting to make another. I just love this purse.

The latest purse I finished made me feel ready for fall. The cute little pumpkin purse is always a fall favorite of mine to create.

Both of these purses are available in my Etsy store. Now I am ready for a cup of hot apple cider and my favorite fall treat; candy corn.

Better Late Than Never

My internet has been on and off all week long, so for the moment while it is on, I wanted to take the opportunity to share some pictures of the girls in their Halloween costumes. Last Thursday was our town's Begger's Night so we took the girls out to collect all their tricks and treats. Of course they received more treats than tricks.

This year Zella dressed as Merida from the Disney movie Brave and Xiera was Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls. Zella really looked the part with those bright blue eyes and pale skin and that wild, crazy, long, red and curly wig.
Xiera loves her Powerpuff Girls so of course Bubbles was the choice for her.
While the girls were out getting their treats, we ran into their cousins.
We all had a wonderful Halloween this year minus all the cold and terrible wind storms. Before the bad weather, the girls enjoyed carving and painting pumpkins.
Happy Fall everyone! It is my birthday today so I am off to celebrate by shopping! :)

Pumpkin Picking at the Farmer's Market

This week I took the girls to the local farmer's market to pick out our pumpkins and mums as we do EVERY year around this time.
Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I love the smell of crisp fall leaves and bonfires. Our evenings have been getting cool so we have been snuggling up with our cozy afghans to stay warm, while sipping hot cocoa.
Yesterday I went on a field trip with Xiera and her third grade class to the Charleston Falls Park Preserve. It was only 42 degrees in the morning, and I was so happy that I remembered to bring our gloves and hats. We even brought extras for some of the kiddos who had forgotten, so that their little fingers and heads could stay warm too.

Fall Family Portraits

We decided to do amateur family portraits this year and had a good friend of ours photograph us with our own camera right before our evening nature walk last night. I thought they turned out really good. It is so hard to get a great photo of all of us at once. He took about 30 shots and only about 6 turned out. Zella was getting antsy during the middle of the shoot so most of the shots at the end were just a blur of her. Xiera made a lot of cheesy grins and I kept blinking in almost every shot. The only one that looked great in all of them was hubby of course.

Instead of us matching we went for more of a casual feel and focused more on dressing in fall colors.

The jack o' lanterns were not planned but made the perfect touch I think.
