I had a special request from a dear old friend of mine from middle school. My friend Megan had asked me to crochet her baby boy, Jack, an Ohio State Helmet Hat. I was so thrilled to have the chance to crochet something for a little boy. I have been crocheting pink; flowery; girly things for awhile now so this opportunity was refreshing and fun.
I think my favorite is the buckeye leaf "stickers" on the side. On a real Ohio State helmet, they have to be earned. ;)Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Hi! My daughter is turning six in August and she wants a lalaloopsy birthday party. I was searching lalaloopsy stuff on etsy and found your cute little hat. I saw where you were from and thought no that can't be Ohi, then I came to your blog and saw your Ohio State hat. We live in Tipp City. Its a small world! I just wanted to say hi!

Hey Beth!
We had a Lalaloopsy birthday party for my oldest daughter's 7th birthday last year and it turned out awesome. I blogged about it too! Here is the link...

We are practically neighbors indeed as we reside in West Milton...which is about 10-15 minutes from Tipp City! ;) Thanks so much for stopping in and for the sweet compliments about my hats. I really appreciate it and good luck with you upcoming lalaloopsy party!

Hi! I am expecting a little boy in September and I have been looking and looking for a crochet pattern to make one of the football helmet hats for newborn pictures. Do you happen to have a pattern you used to make the football helmet hat with the buckeye leaf stickers?? I love love love the hat and would love to be able to make one!!
Hannah
Hello Hannah!
I apologize for not responding sooner. For some reason I did not see this comment until now. For the buckeye leaf stickers, I just crocheted a basic circle pattern and then embroidered the buckeye leaves onto it using green sewing thread/floss. Here is the basic circle pattern I used....
Starting with either an f or g hook.
Make a magic circle
sc 4 into ring (4 sts)
2 sc in each st around. sl st into next st and fasten off. (8 sts)
Congrats to you!! Good luck creating your football helmet hat, and happy crocheting!
Sincerely,
Lindsay
